Worst attack on US citizens in the US prior to 9/11/2001 (WTC attack).
Mormon militia commanded by John D. Lee (an adopted son of Brigham Young the early Mormon prophet who settled Utah), killed approximately 140 settlers in cold blood. Among the victims were many women and children. All victims were unarmed when killed by the Mormon attackers.
